About routes (themed story branches)


Ok. I want to make something clear about the "routes" my visual novel will have: They are not routes, or not the way you thing they are. I actually like to call them "story branches", and not routes. My sin was to call them "routes" in my initial descriptions for my visual novel. I called them that way so people could understand the content of the story. But I have to make clear what I really intend to do. Each version of the game will touch one or many branches. The first chapter of the story (it will take about 15 months) is focused on the Hornhold family branch and the Police branch and it will touch some others but slightly. Some like: Stripper clubs, Powerful men, "City elders", LGTB advocates, and some more.
The idea is when you make a decision in the game, you will take a route where you touch branch 1, branch 2 and branch 4 and in the other route will touch branch 2, branch 3 and branch 5. I thought of this way to tell the story because I wanted to include many themes but I don't want to make the classic routes where you choose a route at the beginning and you are jailed in it. Also I wanted to stay away from the story structure other ((in)famous) visual novel have. I don't want to have so many routes that I won't be able to update them all at an (acceptable) entertaining speed
